The month of February usually conjures up the image of hearts, chocolates, and cupids. After all in 2015 consumers spent $18.9 billion on gifts and outings for their special someone. But did you know that February is also American Heart month? So give yourself the perfect gift this Valentine’s season and try to take time to commit to a healthy lifestyle and make small changes that can lead to a lifetime of heart health!
In the News
On the 3rd Ford Law Office will be having a Planning Workshop from 8:30am-4pm in the BARC Library. Windom Senior Dining will have $2 Tuesday on the 7th at the Community Center. A free Diabetes Support group will meet on the 7th at 6:30pm at the Windom Area Hospital. On the 9th and 10th at 7pm and the 11th at 2pm and 7pm Windom Senior High School will be presenting this year’s winter play, “The Drowsy Chaperone.” Windom Senior Dining will be having a Valentine’s Lunch on the 14th at the Community Center. BARC will be hosting a Pasta Dinner from 10am-1pm on the 19th. First United Methodist Church will be having a Valentine’s Day Dinner on the 19th.On the 23rd there will be free “BARC Arts” for K-9 kids after school from 3-5pm in the BARC Library.
Farm and Home Show Registration
Windom’s 34th Annual Farm & Home Show is scheduled for Saturday, March 11th 2017 at the Windom Area High School. Doors will be open from 9am-2:30pm and we want your business to be a part of this day which recognizes area agriculture and home-related businesses! In recent years we have had over 1,000 attendees visit our wide variety of vendors and enjoy our line-up of entertainment, educational seminars, noon lunch special, and other attractions at our free show! Update on Chamber Travel
Our exciting trip to Costa Rica is getting closer and on Tuesday, April 4th we invite you to join us for an informational meeting at the Chamber Office. Plan to attend at either 2 or 6pm!
The Chamber and Tammy Boerst at The Travel Place Inc are offering a Chamber Travel trip to Costa Rica! The guided tour is 9 days and includes 13 meals and goes from November 4-12, 2017. For more information on the trip or the information session please contact the Chamber or The Travel Place (507.831.1053).
The Chamber once again is partnering with the Windom Police Department and the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department to offer free ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) trainings. ALICE training provides individuals with the knowledge and skill to ensure survival and minimize loss of life in the event of an aggressive intruder. Whether you have already participated in the classroom portion or are new to the concept of ALICE, we encourage you to sign up for one of these informative, free sessions.
